⌊ vera ⌉ commander of defense . guarder of nests . caretaker

vera is a feisty coatl, but also very gentle and maternal. in her younger days, she birthed many biological children and saw that they each had a bright future. her days of nesting are mostly over, though she raises a few dragons of her own blood from time to time. mostly, she stays with the clan, happy to defend hatchlings inside their eggs and occasionally look after those who have not yet spread their wings. she is not exactly a mother, but guides those who are lost to the clan where they fall under the care of another dragon.

vera's ears pricked. it was the dead of night, and she was crouched behind the large wall of thorns and brambles that guarded the hatchery. the darkness didn't bother her, she had spent so long in the tangled wood that her eyes were accustomed to the dark. the only light was the light from the pale glow of light eggs in the hatchery, tucked safely away next to each other. so then why was there a faint light coming from somewhere outside the clan?

despite herself, vera shivered. normally it wouldn't have bothered her, as there were usually 3 dragons assigned to hatchery guard duty at night, but today, the two trainees had come down with a terrible cough and were in no fit to protect delicate eggs. she gathered her weapons, ready to pounce should a monster emerge.

caden. her old love, and her only love, now dead. when he died vera's heart was broken into a million pieces, far beyond mending, but as she spends more time with the clan she has relearned what it means to love again. she refuses to find another mate, and keeps a picture of caden with his crooked smile tucked in one of her pouches.
