Biography
“I am the one who destroyed the moon and I plan to do the same to Sorneith. I am also your teacher.”
KoroSensei is a strange, mutated creature that happens to have taken the form of a dragon. True to her form, she is incredibly protective of those she has taken under her wing (who she repeatedly refers to as her ‘students’ even though many are much older than she is.) She does her best to take care of all of her students’ needs, though she often does so in an unexpected fashion. She frequently spends all she has on food and what is left is spent on trashy celebrity magazines. Her colors change depending on her mood.
KoroSensei does not remember a time before she achieved her current form in an Arcane lab. All she recalls of her time there is endlessly painful testing to confirm just what exactly she was. Unfortunately for the researchers there, this testing awakened frightening powers that enabled her to escape. She was impossibly fast and deadly. She brought an end to several of the scientists on her way to freedom.
However, in her escape, she accidentally wounded the one friend she had made in the lab. He was a teacher, working nights in the lab as an assistant. As KoroSensei cradled her dying friend, he whispered one final wish: “I know you don’t have long. But please, teach those who are lost like you. Look for the sadness in their eyes. They need you.”
As her friend slipped away into the afterlife, KoroSensei mourned for only a moment. “If only I knew how to save you,” she lamented. “All I know is to harm. How can I teach anyone?” With her question still hanging in the quiet night air, she sped away, only to turn herself in moments later.
KoroSensei was brought before the Arcanist so he could decide what to do with her. After mulling over the matter for quite a while, he asked her, “Why is it that you escaped the laboratory? You know what a dangerous creature you are. The very same materials that form your molecular structure carved a hole in the moon!”
“I know what I am. And I know what I did to the moon,” KoroSensei answered in an even tone. She glanced out the nearby window at the permanent crescent drifting lazily across the sky. “All I’m asking for is a chance. Let me teach. And, if my students can kill me, I won’t destroy the world.”
The Arcanist thought about this for several minutes more. “I will grant your request,” he finally answered. The other dragons in attendance began protesting loudly, but the Arcanist held up a claw for silence. “If, and only if, you give me your word that you will not lay a claw on another dragon.”
“You have my word and my honor,” KoroSensei answered, bowing her head as she thought of her lost friend.
“Then it is settled,” the Arcanist stated. Another murmur of disapproval rippled through the crowd. “I grant you one year. If you are not killed by the end of that time, I will find and end you myself, for the good of Sorneith.”
