Vashnev

An indomitable wall of scale and scarred hide, horns and armor, Vashnev is the King Unopposed. He is the dragon, the guardian other members of the Clan look to for protection in times of strife, guaranteeing a mature, straightforward personality and a stalwart desire to defend those he considers his charge. For all the bloodlust and the bloodscale armor he seems to possess, Vashnev is not the monster his appearance paints him as; beneath such a frightening exterior is a dragon with unusual chivalric tendencies that includes a strong code of honor, and an outspoken dislike against hypocrites, prejudice and liars. His word is his bond, though he's verified a promise in blood before, all too familiar with the harshness of life and the necessity, sometimes, of resorting to violence - particularly when in the defense of others.

Combat is his calling, and this was quickly realized from an early age by the Clan's patriarch, Novaan, who discussed it with a young Vashnev (then a tundra) to make the change into a breed more apt to holding one's own in the coliseum. This is a decision neither guardian has come to regret, and it's difficult to see Vashnev ever changing his mind; once he commits to something that both his head and his gut agree on, he resolves to see it out to whatever end may be in store.

Contrary to the amount of time spent knee-deep in foes' blood, violence is not the only dominant aspect of his being; he never would have made it this far without some measure of intelligence, for rampaging around without a clue in his head has never been Vashnev's battle style. Strategic, reserved and with senses refined to a point as sharp as dragons' talons, he takes on the world with a practiced eye and experience rivaled only by Novaan himself. Vashnev holds little regard for the Clan's opinions of him, so long as they do not think him some sort of savage, he prefers his reputation and his behaviors to speak for themselves and either assuage any apprehensions they have about him - or give them a good reason to fear, if they happen to be a Clanmate of a shady, untruthful personality.

Though he oft times prefers the peacefulness of solitude and the comfort of his own strength and the occasional one-on-one conversation, it's a very little known secret (only those closest to him could ever guess such a thing) that he desires true companionship; a fearsome reputation and being looked to for guidance and protection are good things, but there is no shame in wanting someone to look beyond the scarred hide and see the heart beating underneath. Difficult as it is to imagine from a dragon synonymous with battle prowess, victory and unquestionable loyalty, Vashnev is capable of showing affection - even cuddling if the right partner were to come along and ignite his heart. Unfortunately, finding the right one is a lot like finding a diamond in a lightless cavern; ordinary pebbles he is more likely to find even after hours of searching. Even then, his trust is an invaluable prize few dragons can earnestly say they've obtained, and love is a complicated matter in of itself.

After digging through Sonna's precious library he finally came across the scrolls stating his lineage . With some searching and some shared information from Vahzen, he found traces of one of his grandfathers, a Guardian named Nahlonnir straight from the Icewarden much like Novaan. The two eventually found the clan, but decided not to disturb them. His desire to be a guardian and fighter made much more sense. As does his intelligence concerning battle tactics. A sense of peace was upon Vashnev that day. Knowing he came from an honorable warrior and protector made him proud of his ancestry. And the fact that he was connected closely to the Icewarden, the deity he now honors and follows, makes him feel that much more at home in the icy tundra.
