An orphan from the Tangled Wood, Eyner spent most of his early life moving from Flight to Flight. Not magically inclined but a fair hand with a sword, he carved out a life for himself as a traveller in the wilderness, learning to fend for himself early. He eventually joined his friends Alcor and Moriah on their journey after he met them by chance, and the three have been fast friends ever since. Though once terrified that a stable life was never for him, Eyner has now made himself such a constant, dependable presence around Home that the dragons here can scarcely imagine life without him.
- Biography
Eyner has always had a strong will to survive, even when the odds seemed stacked against him. Born in the Tangled Wood, he spent most of his days in an orphanage on the border of Light and Shadow, but bounced between a handful of other Flights as he grew old enough to take on odd jobs where he could find them. As an adult, he became a wanderer, and taught himself how to fight with a sword, quickly becoming one of the best swordsmen around despite his lack of formal training. Not a dragon accustomed to companionship, Eyner had almost managed to convince himself he wouldn't ever be able to form lasting bonds with other dragons when he joined Alcor and Moriah on their travels. He told his friends that their fate was his, and despite his misgivings, joined them at Home, where he quickly came to fit in better than he'd dared hope.
- Life at Home
Quiet and inclined to solitude, Eyner still carries the wary, shabby look of a wanderer even now that he has three square meals a day and a soft bed to sleep in. Despite his claims that he spent most of his life standing for nothing, he is a steady, reliable presence, and a dragon well worth listening to. He doesn't back down when he has something to say, and will be happy to stand for what he believes in even if it means standing alone. Not given to bluster or theatrics like his friend Alcor, Eyner's soft-spoken nature and dislike of argument makes it obvious he won't argue something unless he truly believes in it. A dragon who leads by his quiet example, Eyner has no idea how much the other dragons at Home look up to him.
- Relationships
Eyner is a dragon who isn't given to extreme displays of affection, but he nevertheless loves deeply, and would do anything to protect his friends, his students, and his home. Very good with hatchlings, he enjoys giving sword-fighting lessons to young dragons. He can usually be found with his best friends Alcor and Moriah, and prefers to keep his social circle small, though he could never be accused of being impolite or unfriendly - a little awkward in large groups at the worst. Level-headed and wise beyond his years, the other dragons on Home's staff know he's well worth listening to.
- Personality
Proud but level-headed and steady-minded, Eyner is a reserved but excellent leader. He has no delusions about his own excellent ability, and takes great pride in being a member of the school's guard. He expects nothing but the best from himself, and is prone to being very hard on himself if he makes a mistake that leads to one of his friends getting hurt. Often grim and slightly sad in temperament, he enjoys spending time with his friends and helping them out in their garden, where Moriah says he's much better with plants than Alcor. He never thought he'd have a stable, comfortable life, but now he enjoys few things more than talking walks in the forests around Home or settling in by the fire with a good book and a cup of tea.
