History
|
I am a member of the Clan of the hallowed night. This clan only assembles once a year on a date they call the ‘Hallowed Night’.They believe that on the 31st of October* the divide between the living and the dead trembles and thins. It is a time to remember one’s ancestors and to celebrate the cycle of life and seasons. When they gather they throw an extravagant celebration with a grand feast and extraordinary entertainments. However dragons wishing to join them for the night must be warned; this is the season of change and duality and they also spend the night trying to terrify each other with tricks, stories, and costumes. Membership of the clan of the Hallowed night does not require you to give up any other allegiances, though many of its members find their home clan less accepting of split loyalties so keep their membership and yearly trips a secret. They believe that hatchlings born on this date are especially lucky and may be imbued with the magical energy of the night. It is also thought that the parents are blessed by this hatching. Chief Deity worshipped by this clan is the Shadowbinder who to them represents change and liminality. The Plaguebringer is worshipped almost as much being the representation of death and decay. However all the gods are referenced in their ceremonies and worship to some extent, dragons from flights across Sornieth are members of the clan and bring with them diverse customs and ideas. However members will often go out of their way to nest in domains of the Shadowbinder and Plaguebringer in advance of the night in the hope to curry more favour with the goddesses. Likewise the event is held at a secret location right on the border between the Scarred Wasteland and the Tangled Wood. *Translated to the equivalent date on earth for the benefit of human readers. |

Mandrake was excited at first to apprentice with his aunt at her new tailors shop with the stricken but artistic differences have strained their working relationship. His minimalistic and modern designs find themselves with a lace hem if left alone too long under her gaze. He suspects her envy is the reason she has not made him a Journeyman even after nearly a century of apprenticeship. He is friends with many on the clan and almost everyone owes him a favour. He mostly never cashes in on them though and spends most of his free time designing for his muse Salem. Salem prefers to wear as little as possible to avoid fur tangles but models his latest creations gamely when asked. |
