Little Blurb-
Another searing flash of pain burned through my body. I was so sore from walking for so long. Will anyone take in a weak Ridgeback? Usually Clans use me for battle. I drag myself to a small hollow near a roaring river. I can search for a place to stay tomorrow.
I woke up before the sun rose fully by a small pair of claws. Stars were just barely visible, and the moon had almost set. I opened my eyes and found myself staring into two pairs of purple eyes. There was a small, light purple Fae and a deep purple Skydancer. The Skydancer was baring his teeth and looked as if he was about to attack, while the Fae was calmer and more curious.
"Who are you?" The Skydancer growled.
I shook my head to clear my drowsiness. "Er- Fractal. Who are you?"
The Fae jumped in front of the raging Skydancer. "I'm Spirit, and this is my brother Demon!"
"That's right," Demon hissed through clenched teeth. "What are you doing here?"
"I just need a place to rest while I find a Clan," I explained. "Are you part of a Clan?"
Spirit looked at Demon. They seemed to communicate without speaking. "Yes," Demon turned back to me. "We'll take you to Nova."
They led me to a large clearing with scattered holes in the ground. A tall boulder sat in the middle, where a purple, pink, and cyan Pearlcatcher lay. She raised her head and stared at me. "Who is this, Demon?" She asked.
Demon bowed before the Pearlcatcher. "This is Fractal. She needs a place to stay."
The leader leapt from her rock and looked up at me. She stood at the height of my shoulders, but she didn't seem that threatening. "Hello, Fractal. My name is Nova, and I am the leader of Gloom Clan."
I dipped my head in greeting. I never felt the need to bow before anyone, but dipping my head was the least I could do. "Greetings, Nova. I'd like to stay in your camp for a little, if you're okay with it."
Nova tilted her head. "It depends on how long."
"Just until I have enough strength to leave."
Nova nodded slightly and closed her eyes. "You may stay, but on one condition. At least one dragon must accompany you at all times."
"Fair enough," I said. "You don't know me."
"Demon!" Nova called to the Skydancer, who had walked to a corner and was eating a couple beetles. "Come over here!"
He gulped down the rest of the last bug and walked over. "Yes, Nova?"
"You need to watch Fractal until she can leave. Is that alright?"
"Of course." Demon dipped his head.
Nova turned back to me. "I hope your stay goes well. Good luck on finding a new Clan when you're ready to leave."
