Kruel’s fate had been set into motion as the small womb that was her egg had been touched by a lingering presence of the shade still holding onto this world. When she had hatched she was a beautiful hatchling with glistening black scales upon her body. Little did anyone know what lay beneath the surface. As the hatchling aged she became prone to violent outbursts attacking other hatchlings and even adolescents in a fit of rage. At one point she took the family’s familiar out into the woods and brutally killed it without any expression of remorse for what she had done. The hatchling was thought to have sociopathic tendencies and mentally ill. No one had suspected the youngster had been shade touched. As she grew into maturity only then did it become more apparent. Darkness oozed from under her glistening scales, eventually they fell loose from the skin underneath leaving the flesh raw and red. She was changing and now it was time to move on

Even after here skin had stopped seeping her scales never grew back in those areas of raw redddened flesh. The rest of her scales would molt and return as normal but the reddened flesh remained bare leaving those red patches all over her body. Her best option now was to seek out a new place to call home in the plague region. No one there would stare at her appearance. She’d actually fit right in as long as her flesh didn’t start seeping darkness again. Even so she would still be welcome among the sick without a thought of turning her away, and among a clan of killers she would fit right in with the lot of them
