—– The solo child of a haunted clutch, Verloren should have been watched more carefully. Adventurous and excited to explore, the chick ran off while his parents were still asleep, running from curiosity to curiosity, eyes, nose and paws desperate to explore the lands in which he was born. When he saw the towering trees of The Tangled Wood, he hesitated slightly, looking back in the direction he came. Seeing the sun peek over the horizon, knowing his parents would soon wake, the young hatchling tore off to explore the forest. The woods were so different to the barren wasteland of the Scarred Wasteland- where there were flesh-like stretches of land, there was soft grass. Rather than a harsh red glow, a soft blue light hummed from most of the plantlife here- he was convinced the woods were nothing but beauty, despite the warnings of his clanmates to not go near, so his soul was not consumed by the dense foliage. He paid them no mind, and let himself wander. Are you lost? He couldn't tell how long had passed, the tall trees blocked out the sun, the forest never seemed to change lighting, giving the residents no outside way to tell what time it was. Tired, hungry, and weak, the hatchling found himself in a ruined city, barbed vines strung across the buildings and terrain as if they were decorations. Here is where the child let his tired body lay down and rest, never to get back up. He woke up to spirits staring at him, all of which scattered to give the wildclaw his space as he flinched up and puffed his feathers and wings out defensively, before tripping over something- his own body. His eyes widened, shock caused his legs to give out as the wildclaw tried to conceptualize that he has passed away. Lost, terrified, and upset, the young spirit received comfort in the unexpected company of those who roamed the ruins as well- Specifically the armoured claws of a set of haunted armor. While unable to communicate with each other, he and the armour set quickly became inseparable despite their lack of tangible communication. Once his own soul was soothed, the young wildclaw dubbed himself Verloren, donned a set of armour himself, and the forgotten child of the woods vowed to never let a child suffer a fate like his, and now patrols the Tangled Woods in order to protect the young and lost children who wander too far from home to get back unharmed. |
