Biography
OMU the carefree pondgoer |
The enchanted stream that flows by the Tycho's Peak Clan slows and pools in Tlalli's garden, providing her plants with the water they need (as well as a little Arcane magic). One day, however, it provided them with a little Spiral juvenile, partially submerged and happily curling his lithe, sleeping form around the reeds and cattails. At first, Tlalli was not pleased. The usually quiet dragoness was quite stern in her declaration to Valencia: "There's something in my pond. It needs to be taken care of." Eventually she was told that she would have to deal with the guest herself, but by that time word had spread and nearly everyone in Tycho's Peak stood around the Spiral in the pond, cooing as the little thing replied with clicks and happy whistles. This angered Tlalli even more. She kept her nosy clanmates out of her garden, but still couldn't bring herself to dispose of such a helpless creature as his big, watery eyes stared into hers. A name for him even danced around in her mind: Omu. He would have to stay, she supposed. Omu has the mindset of hatchling and the hoarding habits of a Ridgeback. He never really learned proper dragonspeak, considering his caretaker spoke few words herself, but he manages to communicate just fine in his clicking chirrups, which Tlalli begrudgingly translates for everyone. If something shiny or pearly goes missing in the clan, Omu's pond is the first (and often the final) place a dragon will check, for the green Spiral hoards anything that gleams or glimmers in the sun. Most dragons end up forgiving him though, as he's really sweet as sugar and honestly doesn't know any better most of the time. One of the only reasons Tlalli let the young Spiral stay is the fact that he does a fine job of controlling the insect populations in her garden. He prevents awful mana-sucking mosquitoes from laying eggs in the pool, and Tlalli has even started to teach him what insects are beneficial and which he should eat (with little success). With his home at the front of the lair, he serves as a cheerful greeter to the morning and evening patrols when they return from duty. His sentient puddle of Radioactive Slime, a product of the Arcane energies flowing through the stream, is always near him, sometimes sitting and dripping from his head and neck. |

You and I left our troubles far behind
But I still have just one more question on my mind
For all my pals who live in the oceans and the seas
With fronds like these, well,
Who needs anemones?
