Winter

STORY
Winter sunk down by the wall, she was exhausted, today was an emotional day, and she was struggling to hold it all in anymore. Her eyes welled up, she was tempted to close for the day.

“You know you can’t do that...” she whispered to herself, her voice shook, she felt as if she was losing her mind.

Her normal solution was praying, but she just didn’t feel like she could for the day. Her faith seemed to have been wavering lately, something was causing more pain in the kingdom. Something was deeply wrong.

There was a knock at the door, she took a deep breath and composed herself, “Give me just a moment!” Her voice cracked.

She stumbled to her feet, shook her tears away, and opened the door. Mint clicked happily at her, he held a plate of fruit and veggies, and some smoothies for drinks. Winter smiled and began to cry. Mint flew in and set down the plate and the smoothies and flew back to her and rested his head upon hers. He was unsure of how to comfort her it her than hold her head in his claws and put his nose on hers.
He stared into her eyes and in a very small crackly voice, managed “Hap-ph,”

Winter giggled gently and lowered her head, “It’s been a rough day, Minty, it’s been a rough day,”

Mint gave a sad squeak and then tweeted happily again, going to bring her the smoothie he brought for her, and they sat together, and chatted (and chattered) amongst each other.

BASIC DESCRIPTION

Winter is a religious dragon, she prays to the ice warden multiple times a day. Sometimes some dragons find it strange, but for her it just gets her through the day. While she is a doctor, she has a rough time seeing patients in the state they are in. She feels other dragon’s emotions, and most of the dragons she works with are upset or sad, but she tries really hard to keep it together.

Some dragons feel that her prayers come true. She prays with each patient (if they are willing) before each appointment, and after each appointment. She always feels that even if it doesn’t help the dragons physically, it still helps them gain a bit of hope for their recovery. She is known as the best doctor in the Light Kingdom, so she feels a lot of weight on her shoulders. While there is another doctor in the kingdom she is afraid of disappointing her patients, and rarely takes days off.

Most of the time, Winter is very worn out. Some of the kingdom’s dragons have to force her to take a break so she won’t get sick. Mint visits her on the daily with some snacks sent by Roxy, and the other dragons in the area do their best to help take care of her.
