Biography
Where did this mysterious wandering dragon come from? Who knows.
…Well, in truth, he's Soren's uncle, although his Search and lone wolf nature obscured most of his history from living memory.
Orpheus's Search began long ago, with numerous examples of trial and error; trying to protect other dragons, creatures, places, objects... anything under the sun, never finding that special spark. He became cold and solitary, shunned by fellow Guardians for his lack of charge.
During this time, Soren established his clan and began sowing seeds of good favor across Sornieth. Unable to complete a journey himself due to prior engagements, Soren turned to his dear uncle to accomplish it in his place. Indifferent as he was to most things, Orpheus obliged, carrying the goods to the famous Trading Post quickly and with ease. However, it was upon delivery that a certain strange feeling came upon him... as if he were a hatchling again, experiencing the world anew - he'd found that spark, but what was it exactly?
His charge, rather than something physical, was a concept: safe transfer for the good of his clan. Whether it be goods, money, even other dragons making their way elsewhere - it's Orpheus's duty to see it to its destination safely.
The stoic Guardian has led any and every delivery or mission requested of him; he continues to watch his nephew dutifully, if distantly, and has opened up to his clanmates... somewhat. He remains a loner at heart, but is never outright cold or cruel (perhaps just a bit brash and jaded).
While Orpheus's charge is a concept, his familiar, Sentinel, has his own "charge" of sorts: that being the actual items in question. With the little serious creature watching the goods like a hawk, and Orpheus bound to protecting his charge by his honor as a true Guardian, no transaction will ever go uncompleted by any member of the Idyllic Dark.
