Can a bad man do good things? If he does good things, does that truly make him bad? Oh, you could argue the specifics all day, especially about the details of Hawk’s life. He was a raider at first, if he was being perfectly honest. A person with no direction but a head for violence who fell in with people who appreciated it. He never made it to the top of the pack despite the fact he easily could have- he didn't want the responsibility of being in charge of anything. Life was pretty good for a while. Bloody, nasty, crime ridden, but none of that had ever bothered him, not until someone bigger came to knock over his 'family's' encampment. They held out far longer than any chaotic band of cutthroats should have. Most of that was to do with him, and as a reward for impressing them the conquerors 'allowed' him to join the army ranks instead of becoming a slave. To say Hawk was not pleased would be an understatement. But he knew how to hold his tongue and wait. And wait he did, time upon time, waiting for someone to be alone, for just the right moment. He also discovered a strong personal hatred of slavers- might have been him discovering something like morality, might be that personal choice and a lil' bit of anarchy along with lookin' after each other was what made Hawk like raiding in the first place. He met a few friends when all was said and done (and all had been properly burned to the ground. Long story there), people working in secret like him, people he helped or gave a kind word to. People whose 'masters' did not come back from a mission, and they knew the reason why but would never ever tell. He's a cutthroat still, a little sadistic, and more than a bit unstable. But he's also loyal, loving, and bull headedly determined to make sure his side wins. Up to you if you want to roll the dice with him. -Rather gregarious and friendly, though he will make jokes or slight insults to see what you do before laughing it off. -His giant cleaver is a specialty soul bound weapon. That it's rusted, blood stained, and pock marked most people choose not to comment on. He's also particular about his hat. He almost died without it once okay he ain't doing that again. -It's not so much that he's uncouth, it's that he doesn't get what everyone else's hangups are regarding conversation and most other things. -Still has quite a chunk of raider in him, so his dietary and downtime choices are what some would charitably call 'suspect'.
