Biography

Moonlight Shadowfinder
The Thief

'' The robbed that smiles, steals something from the thief." William Shakespeare

I creep forward, testing the air for signs of guards waiting, but I find only the distant smells of sleeping dragons further along in the cave system. I step lightly and hug the walls. The tunnels were lit with torches to my annoyance and there were no shadows to blend into, if a dragon came down the tunnel at this moment I was a goner for sure. I make my way through the well-lit halls passing many openings quietly that I assume are the individual dragons dens. I have to admit that the place was a nice lair. The tunnels were winding enough that intruders would have a hard time navigating them and the place had space enough to handle hundreds of dragons.

But I was here for one thing and one thing only. I finally come to the entrance to the vault, two goblin statues sat either side of the two large oak doors, I suppose they were supposed to guard it. But they weren't going to be able to stop me from taking what I desperately need. Of course, the large padlock and what looked to be a magic symbol glowing on the floor in front of them might do the trick. But I wasn't some ordinary thief that could be shaken by some flimsy lock and magic. I grab an orb from my pack and feel it spark at the contact. It's glowing purple glass surface held twisting purple smoke within. It was a haunted stone orb with touches of magic added to it, the perfect thing to dissipate the runes holding me at bay.

(Continued below)

Her familiar is named Charlie and is planted in the clan mountainside garden, though constantly dragging itself down to the caves of the clan to Moonlight's chagrin.

That's when I hear a large commotion behind me and I realize that it's the sound of worried and angry dragons coming my way. I shove the orb into the pack roughly, causing it to whir loudly in anger. But I pay it no mind and fluttered my wings and flew to a goblin statue and land on it's back. I tuck my wings as close as I could to my small body and ducked behind the figure of the statue. At my proximity, the rune on the stone floor came to life and hummed in its search for the disruption. Around the corner came two dragons, both of then Guardians. A black female and a larger green and white male who surveyed the small area for something. I had a creeping feeling that they knew she was there. Though they both seemed calm in manner.

"I'm telling you, I smelled someone down here." the male spoke. The female looked around the space as well and her eyes hesitated on the still humming rune. I hold my breath as she takes a step forward towards the doors, examining the magic symbol. "I don't think any dragons down here," she finally disputed, "If you wanted to talk alone then you could've asked, instead of leading me on this wild goose chase" the dragon pointed out. The disgruntled male growled but said nothing, though still scanning the room with displeasure.

"Come on Akoni, I have things to do," the female sighed, she turned and started down the way she came, the male Akoni turning to follow. That's when the statue surface decided to crumble where my back left foot sat, the piece that broke off bouncing onto the ground noisily, catching the two dragons' attention. The dragon Akoni spins around on his feet and before I can react pounces on the statue I sat on in a blink of an eye. The next thing I know I'm on my back with the claw of the larger dragon sitting on top of my chest, pinning me to the ground. His claw covers practically my entire torso, ensuring no escape. His face is inches from mine, his teeth bared in a rumbling growl.

NightWing, Moonlights mate, is the only dragon she has spoken to in the clan using her real voice. She had a beautiful voice that dragons loved and adored until she suffered an injury, causing her voice to come out garbled and very hoarse, she vowed never to speak again, the vow only been broken the one time.

1 Week Later...

"Moonlight! Can you come over here and tell me how to get to Wispwillow Grove?" called Akoni from a side room that I hadn't yet to explore. I had been passing on my way to the Cafeteria when he called. I enter and see a table in the middle of the room with a map of the world painted on its top in vibrant colors. There were dragon pawns on the top, painted in a variety of colors. A natural opening in the ceiling provided a natural skylight, shining sunlight onto the table. Akoni was leaning over the table looking at me expectingly. I approach him and see that he was hovering over The Tangled Wood.

I smile and start pointing to the best paths to take, taking time with my gestures to make him understand where the sun should be in reference to him when rising and setting. When he had his course set he sat back on his haunches, looking over the table as he thought. "Thank you. Hopefully, I will find my charge here, I haven't had much luck so far though," he admitted. I huff and sign to him "You should stop going out" I urged.

He narrowed his eyes and asked why. It was obvious he wasn't going to be happy with whatever I said. You sign to him, making it slow as he was still learning, "Just because your species says you have to do this, doesn't mean you have to. You don't have anything to prove, and you know nobody here minds. The clan needs you here, not out there." I warned.

I watch his reaction carefully, worrying that I might not understand what he was feeling correctly if I didn't examine his every move. He seemed angry at first and I worry he was going to start yelling, but then his eyes softened and he seemed thoughtful. He looked at me, and before I knew what was happening, his large arms were surrounding me in a hug.

"Your right. I've known that since the day I came here. I just couldn't...I couldn't let go. Thank you Moonlight." he confessed. I hum in understand and hug him back, my arms barely to be able to do so. I had no doubts about staying, and no doubts about who my family was anymore.
