Syn doesn't talk much about his childhood, simply sharing that he left home in his early teens with his friend Teef, and has been independent ever since. They were traveling through the Ashfall Waste looking to support a growing movement of striking workers, when they ran into Orion, Nine, and Eiji coming back from a mission. They came to like the three, and agreed to accompany them to their home lair and base of operations. Syn quickly rose in the ranks and revealed himself as a close second to Orion (excluding Vega bc hes leagues above everyone), landing him a spot as second-in-command. He is in no way physically small or weak, but he also has great ferocity, determination, and bravery. He is cheerful and confident, and easy to make friends with. Syn's told no one but his closest friend Teef, but he has a little bit of a ghost problem. He's always been able to hear voices, see ghosts, but recently it's become a little more serious. A particularly strong ghost seems to have latched onto him, and now bothers him every second of the day. In addition to the constant pestering, Syn's connection to the physical world seems to be growing weaker as well. He's noticed himself slipping away, becoming intangible, and seeing glimpses of another world. It seems to happen the most when he's at his weakest emotionally, when the ghost latched onto him starts pulling him away. But Syn is stupidly stubborn, and will always manage to fight his way back to the physical world (usually with a little help from Teef).
