Icing knew what he wanted to do the second he was able to go out of the nesting grounds. Once his seedling of an egg split open, Icing was tottling out on unsteady feet to press his face into a bushel of flowers that grew at the edge of the nesting grounds. His soft pink wings fluttering in their newness as he chomped down on the flowers, yanking them out of the ground. Proudly lifting his head (so the roots don’t drag on the ground of course, in a clan such as Kombi, you can never trust the plants to not replant themselves), Icing dropped the bushel of flowers at his mother’s feet. As was usual for Kombi, the Bicolor Petunias soon rerooted. The torn roots mending themselves with sparks of green energy as they slipped back into the earth, planting themselves at Sapphire’s feet. Of course the mother imp appreciated the gift (after all it was given to her by her only remaining son), and only briefly tore them up. But soon enough, the Petunias were back in the earth, this time to the side of the nest so the denizens could come and go as they pleased. Icing’s nestmate, a lovely (if much duller) imp named Narri, was much more reserved. Not that that would matter, as not soon after hatching, she moved clans, going all the way across to the Sunbeam Ruins.
Soon after Narri left them, it was just him and his mother left in the Starfall Isles. With his mother’s previous clutch already scattered to the wind, and Narri away in the Light Territory, Icing soon found himself feeling...oddly lonely. Yes, of course he loved his mother, and his father. He’d even go far enough to say that he loved his clan as a whole. But he wanted more, as all hatchlings always want more. He wanted to find adventure out there, wanted to find his fate and his destiny. And...okay, there was a rather large part of him that wanted to find more rare and exotic plants. He heard of watermelons, growing only in the Sea of a Thousand Currants, that if ladened with spices from Dragonhome would taste perfect. Icing heard of the plant called Manyleaves, native to the Thunderhead Savannah, that would spark in his mouth as he ate it. Icing wanted to bake, and he wanted to find flowers. So it didn’t take long after he became a fully fledged dragon (long outgrowing the small grotto that he was hatched in and first found Petunias), for him to bid adieu to the mother and the father and the clan as a whole. He took off, making a meandering, winding way across Sornieth. On a deeply set mission to find new flavors, and to find a home that he could settle in eventually. (With the minor bonus of finally finding a mate for himself).
It came as no surprise that Icing would eventually settle down in The Tangled Wood. More specifically a lovely grove of trees that took the name of Kombi, run by a Fae and a Bogsneak named Lilly and Keith (respectively). It was lovely, just simply beautiful and Icing knew that he was in there to stay the second he saw the flowering vines that climbed up an unoccupied tree. There was also the fact of the matter that there was a beautiful Tundra who had a smith’s shop right next to the tree, but that was really just a bonus. And besides, Icing was a functional gay, he wouldn’t make a life altering decision just for a pretty man. But oh, but oh, did Nivenor make everything all the sweeter. It wasn’t long until Icing was the official resident of the tree with the flower vines (that he later found out bore fruit in the summers), and eventual owner of the bakery that wrapped around the trunk along with the vines. Oh how he loved working on the building, and before you say it, no it was not because he could watch Nivenor work hard and flex muscles (though that was a rather large bonus), it was because it truly marked the newest age in his life. His life in Kombi, his life as a baker. And oh, how could he wait as long as he did to ask that beautiful glowing Tundra out. It truly is a mystery (about to be solved).

____Nivenor was a beautiful tundra. Muscled from working with Magnetite, Hematite, and the occasional pottery piece. But that wasn’t what caught Icing’s eye. Instead, it was quite literally how eye catching that Nivenor was. With the glowing green skeleton that was superimposed onto his body. It took some talking, and some rather well timed sweets, for Icing to get the full story. As it turns out, Nivenor came from an Earthen clan, one famed for their luck and special connection with the Earthshaker. Nivenor was...one of the more unfortunate hatches in the clan. You see, when his earthen egg shattered apart, his skeleton was glowing green through his fur. But the full story, and how exactly he went from Dragonhome to The Tangled Wood, is for another time. It’s someone else’s tale to tell after all. What Icing knows is currently what you were told, but that does not mean that their relationship stopped with backstory indulgence.
____The two of them grew closer. After all their livelihoods were right next to each other, with Nivenor’s smithery hugging close to the tree within who’s branches nested Icing’s bakery. Occasionally he’d lower down a basket of fresh rosemary bread to him, and then get sent up a beautiful rendition of himself in kilned clay. And so this was how they built their relationship, a perfect give and get until one day, something other than bread and crafts were traded. Blushing something fierce, Icing had sent down a letter of his love down to Nivenor, and then immediately turned away from the basket pulley. The seconds lasted far too long for Icing’s liking until he heard the now familiar ding of the basket returning (this time without the usual heavy clunk that noted a gift). With bated breath, the imperial had tugged out the note. Only to breath a heavy sigh of relief when he found his affections returned. And so from then on they were happy. They continued their give and get, but now there were hearts carved into clay or embedded into metal. Now there were love filled gazes shared over an experimental batch of Icing’s newest experiment. There was Nivenor bringing back exotic fruits and plants from his venue tours, and Icing repaying the favor by bringing back ores and metals from his own. They worked in tandem, as above, so below.

____Icing was smart. He knew that even though the best ores and metals were found in harder venues, he would have to start out slow and small. And so he did, taking a small low level party to the Training Fields, and fought there for a few nights. Gathering up beautiful blossoms from the Miths, and crushed violets from the pocketmouses...pocketmice. The mice that populated the Training Fields. Keeping them carefully stuffed away in his herb bag as he continued to fight his way through battle after battle. Luckily gaining no scars, but also (and he was told this was rare for how long he had stayed) gaining no friends. Not even familiars that were already in the clan, but none! Of course, this didn’t get Icing down. He was not here to make friends, he was here to gain food and small materials to give the clan some petty cash. But of course, as chance and probability would have it, it wasn’t long after giving up on the hunt for a friend, that a friend found him.
____It was dark in the Training Fields when it happened. The only light coming from his tour companions and the glowing rocks that scattered the fields, and then another light source came up. Sparking and glowing, there were three Chipskinks in front of them. One blue, two red. And oh, the red ones fell easily to the Snapper’s and the Bogsneak’s claws. And then Icing was left, staring down at the Blue Chipskink. And he couldn’t finish it off. Luckily for him (and for his companions) he would not need to fight any longer. The chipskink chirred at him, blinking slow as its tail waved, and then scrambled up Icing’s arm and body and neck until it was nestled in his hair. Icing chuckled at his companions, and they decided it was about time to go back to Kombi to avoid passing out. There he got to know the Chipskink, and there he named her Ciana, for the light that she glowed with.
