Some might think he was a fool, only seeing his festive exterior and immediately passing him off as ‘dense’ and ‘lesser’ than the others. Some don’t even look at him, immediately annoyed by the presence of his jangling bells to turn in his direction, already extending their wings to flap away, gusting wind in his face. It’s disconcerting, being the happy-go-lucky spiral he was, and he often gets unnecessarily annoyed because of their immediate judgement of him, tying himself in jingling knots and huffing about how unfair it was that his fashion sense had to be judged so fiercely.

If dragons did choose to look behind his jester’s outfit, they would find sparkling stars, bright beyond belief. His eyes matched the intensity of the comets soaring over his scales, burning with the flame of hope and determination; his only goal to make friends and have them appreciate who he was.

Of course, he had met dragons along the way that shared his ideals, quickly becoming inseparable with them (either due to their connection or the fact he’d wound his body too close to theirs in his excitement, and accidentally tied them both up). He had a group of his best friends to wander the plaguelands with, a family of nomads from almost every other flight.

He wasn’t a fool, he just knew how to weed out the fake dragons from the good ones.
