Maren Shark Hunter 		Cake. Cake is life. Cake is hope. Cake is happy. Any lair that Miriama had ever lived in smelled of cake nearly every hour of every day. Her parents had been bakers and, though it was not talked about, their parents had probably been bakers too. Every cake was a recipe handed down through either their family or the families of dragons that they had befriended. It was always an honor to be granted a new recipe and an even a greater honor to bake that recipe into a moist, fluffy mound of deliciousness to serve the others in the clan. The scent always brought memories back of growing up with baking in the lair. Cakes for joy, cakes for sadness, cakes to remember, and cakes to help the bad memories just a bit less so. Baking was a calling, a mission, and even at time an obsession. What to bake today, though? Chocolatey truffle delight for the plant lovers or savory and rich souffle for the meat eaters? Perhaps something salty, buttery, and sweet for the fish lovers? Then again, the crunchy and earthy cake for the insect eaters was always met with rave reviews.
