Dubbed "Princess Antares" by her grandfather, she's spoiled by the old warrior incessantly.
Incantare doesn't know much of her father's lineage, but her mother's is one she can recount off by heart: Sumannette's parents were accidental scholars, one a shadow on the battlefield and the other a tepid researcher.
Together they formed a bond and Constellation's worship of astrology soon wormed its way into Arcturus' heart. They were gifted with the mark of cosmic energy, witnessing a great explosion in the night sky that sent ripples across the unknown and altered the watcher's DNA. They weren't the only ones to witness such a cataclysm; anyone who had watched the stars that night was affected, and it was an event that changed Sorneith forever. The two, in awe of the sight, created a nest whose forms wriggled beneath their shells as they grew with dreams of darkness and stars.
Despite the stars being etched into her very core, Inca's mother seemed to abandon the path of study that her parents had laid out for her and instead opted to devote herself to her nests and her eggs. Incantare thought that was noble too, her parents raising the new generation of those that would examine and be examined, and so Inca couldn't say she was never loved - never supported.
In her eyes, everything is in the pursuit of knowledge for the expansive world of Sornieth. A scholar by nature, she spends an unhealthy portion of her days with her snout buried in a book or scroll, hastily memorising every spell and ward breath can perform.
She's never been particularly gifted in the art of magiks and spells, but greatness runs in her blood and she's determined to prove her family proud.

Training wrote:
She raised herself, coughing up a mouthful of dry dirt.
The old red Imperial looked at her and chuckled. "I see you got your physicals from your grandmother."
Incantare huffed indignantly as she shook the dust from her wings. "My father was rather good with his claws, I'll have you know."

Arcturus chuckled again, barely even readying himself for her next assault. He predicted it before she even stepped forward: lift off above his head to get the back of his neck.
"Use that mind of yours, Inca. It's not there for nothing. Even the strongest warrior can fail to a bad tactic." He struck her down from her manoeuvre, back into the dirt that she had picked herself up from time and time again this evening.

Battle training with her own grandfather? It was absurd. He was a seasoned warrior and she was a bookwyrm - the only manoeuvre she performed in her day to day actives was turning the page.
She had not known him for long personally, but the stories her mother told her were definitely... embellished.
Arc was too lighthearted and fretful to live up to her expectations, and in the terms of study, she could never imagine him being one to feverently map the stars alongside her grandmother.

After a long day wasted training for a Coliseum battle she'd never participate in, the imperial bent down and allowed the exhausted Pearlcatcher to clamber up between his wings and hitch an effortless ride all the way back to their lair.
"You don't seem like one to nest," he blurted out suddenly as he walked and she craned her neck sideways to look at him as he spoke. He was referring to the fact that she had offspring — a good few of them, even, despite her young age.
"All in the name of discovery, grandfather," she answered simply.
All in the pursuit of knowledge; for knowledge is power.

hi this is lore notes pls don't read thank u wrote:
1. Inca spends much of her time alongside Eira, a fellow amateur mage, as they pour over the books in Novis' meticulously organised library. Inca aids Eira by reading out the written enchantments to the less-enthusiastic reader, and Eira helps her in turn through showing her how to perform the spells.

2. [Arc to Inca, regarding Stella] "Your grandmother was a drake of science, Inca. Not magic, but the science of superstition. The science of stars."

3. Although she's had a respectable number of nests in her lifetime, Inca cares not for the act nor the result; simply seeing it as the duty of her bloodline. If asked, she will say she has no children, and has never cared enough to remember their faces nor the faces of their fathers. In short, she'd much rather read a book than find a mate.
