Biography
My name is Perseus. I was born a Fae, hatched from a found egg at the edge of the Shadow lands. I don't remember the ones who found me, beyond a vague memory of pain and fear. Then I was in the Auction House, being circled by dragons who taunted me with stories of what devilish things could be made out of a helpless Fae chick. I was a Found Primary, and this made my flesh suitable for use in dark magic that no dragon would think of weaving - unless they were corrupted by the Shade. I knew in those moments that I was going to die.
Suddenly, another Fae dove, shoving one of them aside, and landed right next to me. "Take heart, little one, I'll rescue you." Turning to the auction master, he yelled "Hoi, dragon-keeper! We're going to buy this Fae chick - what do you want for him?" "Hang on SunkenKing, let me see what his lair wants for him." The negotiations went quickly, and soon I was flying in his wake, leaving the crowd of necromancers muttering darkly behind us. "They'll be on us as soon as they realize I've snatched you out of their claws - quick, follow me!" We flew quickly weaving between the stalls and shops of the city to lose our pursuers, and then to Wolfalohalani Lair. There I slept with all the warriors of the clan guarding me for weeks until I was old enough to defend myself. But even though over time I knew myself safe, the things the Shade followers said still haunted me. I knew they were still out there, hunting chicks for their nefarious ends. But I didn't know what I could do, small as I was, to change things.
Then the Call came for Gaolers to hunt the followers of the Shade wherever they were, and the two breed changing scrolls. When Tendorin asked who was willing to Change, my heart leapt in my chest, both from fear and from some other foreign emotion, that I later realized was joy. I stretched out my hand, read the scroll, and I was changed. It was hard, becoming so large, so earthbound, eating meat instead of the insects I loved. But I had help from lair-mates I had never realized were such staunch friends. And slowly I grew into my strength, and my mission. With the support of our clan, we are becoming a pack against darkness. We were that already, really, but now we are recognized by ancient ones whose lineage goes back nearly to the beginning.
