He was bartered away for money, left to look back at the ones who had abandoned him in fear. He worked relentlessly for a few days, still a hatchling, until he was left behind yet again after he was too exhausted to continue. It was in this state that he was found by Vyrn's clan.
Geolapiz, for once, got righteously angry about the poor dragon's state, realizing that he and Vulnere had been abandoned for similar reasons in similar fashions. He'd scooped the imperial up to the best of his ability, immediately protective of the young dragon.
"Who... are you? Please, don't... leave me..."
Vulnere clung to the skydancer, dragging himself towards his soft underbelly. He was barely conscious at this point, dried blood blending in with his scales. His breaths were slow and deep as he tried to keep himself alive, tears leaking out of his eyes.
"I don't... want to die...

Backstory
He stays because they are his family, regardless of their crimes. They saved him from death and from a life that would have killed him; sure, he disapproves of those whose activities are too close to those of his captors, but he chooses to ignore them so he can remain with the dragons who love him.
