I never meant to stay with the Tribe.
This was only a stopover before my final destination. While the dragons here were friendly to me, I ignored them and they eventually went away. Why would I need to communicate with other dragons? Sociability is a skill that's overrated in Pearlcatcher society anyway. Besides, I'm never good with long distance contact, and getting close to others in the lair won't end well for either of us. In the best-case scenario, they'll forget. In the worst-case scenario, they'll think I'm dead.
Then things were cut short. A change in plans - I wouldn't be leaving after all. I was stuck here, with all the dragons I had ignored and shunned. Stuck with a spiral named Ferrero, who had also suffered this change in plan.
