Lyco was once an aristocrat who eloped with a warrior, Kestrel. He was young and starry-eyed; he threw away his cushy life with reckless abandon, all for his belief in love. He truly thought that no matter where he was, it would turn out fine as long as he was with Kestrel- even if that place was a military camp, and he now had a tent instead of a roof over his head. Though of course, real life was nothing like the storybooks. The ground was cold and hard, his baubles and jewelry rusted and broken, his scales and leathers dirty and grimy. Each time he longed for a warm bath, a good dinner, a normal bed like a normal dragon, Lyco had to remind himself again and again that it was for the best. There, he could start anew, create a better life (despite how different it was), and love Kestrel without anyone to stop him. That is, It took Lyco far too long to realize he was unhappy. The mud, the grime, the shouts, the roars; the doubts and worries stuck annoyingly under his talons and rang incessantly in his ears. Despite Lyco's increasingly vocal concerns, Kestrel never seemed to listen. She lived a life of warfare while Lyco lived a life of luxury- and their inability to understand each other's perspective drove them apart. Shortly after their only nest was laid, war was declared on a clan from The Windswept Plateau. Lyco begged for Kestrel to stay behind. With this, Kestrel finally snapped. After a harsh fight, Kestrel declared that she never wanted to see Lyco again and rushed into battle. |

When the news of defeat spread like wildfire and Kestrel was not among the few soldiers retreating home, Lyco was devastated. According to his clan's matriarchal traditions, mates of fallen soldiers were kicked out of the clan. In his heartbroken stupor, Lyco took his and Kestrel's only egg with him in his exile. He had lost everything- but the need to protect his child kept him going. After wandering for countless days, he finally came across the clan in Arcane and was taken in. There, he was finally able to give his by then-hatched daughter, Panama, the childhood she deserved. And there, Lyco learned to move on and find love again with his new friend and eventual mate, Harlow. And then one day, Kestrel joined the very same clan. Lyco almost had a heart attack. After asking around in a panic, he learned that Kestrel was found badly injured, nursed back to health by one of the couriers, and brought back to the clan. Lyco was incredibly relieved yet also terrified of how Kestrel would react to seeing him again. But oddly enough, Kestrel had no memory of him- or of anything, for that matter. Lyco vowed to never let Kestrel know the truth. He figured it was for the best, seeing her happier with her new life and family than she ever was with him. And Lyco was okay with that. Kestrel liked being a warrior, and she liked the courier skydancer who saved her. Lyco very much preferred his silky robes and his new job as clan financier- and his boyfriend, of course. It was an odd twist of fate that led to Panama unknowingly working under her own mother as an apprentice, though. He's still unsure what to do about that. But for now, Lyco sits with his paperwork and his chalice of juice, and he watches with pride as his precious daughter grows up to be a fine warrior herself. Like mother, like daughter, after all. |

EX MATE - KESTREL
Lyco feels a little awkward seeing her, but at least it's one-sided. He truly has moved on, though, and he just feels glad that Kestrel is ok and her life has improved. He sometimes wonders about their unresolved issues due to Kestrel's memory loss, and if keeping their past together a secret is truly the best decision. He's too cowardly to tell her, though, nor is he really sure it would be a good idea. |

MATE - HARLOW Lyco is very, very, happy being with Harlow. Although they don't look too similar at a glance, the two actually have a lot in common. They love to huddle up under a blanket, Lyco in silks and Harlow in a warm sweater, and simply relax. Lyco's had a lot less tension in his shoulders since he started dating the skydancer. |

DAUGHTER - PANAMA
Panama is Lyco's pride and joy. When she began expressing her interest in becoming a warrior, Lyco initially worried. But he soon realized that Panama would be safe here. Besides, he raised her to appreciate more to life than just winning. He's confident that she has a bright future. |
