~ Numbing Gaze ~
She stared at her reflection, clear within the glassy ice. Using the strong eyesight which she held, Eira conveyed the ice before stepping upon it. Her tail held itself high, and wings splayed out to touch the frozen water’s surface. With a grave of air, Eira dug into the ground, claws chipping the thick ice, yet propelling her foward. Her momentum sped up, until she abruptly halted her movements, simply standing still while the ground slid underneath rather talon.
Crowds swiftly appeared upon the shore, dozens of dragons all making loud cheers for their local star. It was simply practice, and yet she was able to draw a crowd. Motivated by the imperials and Pearlcatchers which cried out upon the riverbanks, she dug once more into the ice, swiftly turning on a dime. A loud cheer came from the Coatls, as she leant to the left, going into a spin.
More cheers.
After many an hour, Eira conceded her practice, lifting her great glassy wings off of the ice, and taking off into the sky. Boots and hollers came from the crowd, letting her be while she flew over, and dove into town.
There were many ice sculptors about, making quick work with their materials to properly entertain their audiences. The Skydancer trotted about, looking at each and every one. There was everything from large bugs, to sculptors of draconic Deities.
But one dragon caught her eye.
She recognized him as the one other Skydancer in the village. She had never spoke to him, as it was obvious he was an introverted type being. But yet, this time, she felt the need to trot over, and marvel at his sculpture.
“Oh.” She spoke kindly, seeing him flinch at her words.
“That’s a very beautiful piece of art you have there.” She craned her neck, eyes watering from the majestic stature in which the dragon he sculpted was standing in, each detail of each feather so minute, yet so brilliant.
“Thank you...” He spoke silently, head dropping down as if in respect, or mild fear. She let out a gentle laugh, then a warm smile. He responded with a smile himself, wings folding into his back.
“My name’s Eira. What’s your name?”
“Verglace.”
