A Lightning clan doesn't really need an astronmer, but Laph's open-door policy extends to everyone.

Astra's well aware that astronomy in the Shifting Exapnse isn't the easiest thing to accomplish, but he's also engaged in a little side research concerning meteorological matters. Oh, and then there's all the desert flora and fauna to document, of course. Not to mention experiments regarding the application of magic to machinery. (Really, what could go wrong?)
