aman looks up from his cup at that, a quizzical frown twisting his features.

his alchemist mother had come by the alcove to visit and agreed to her son's suggestion to catch up before she leaves. so far the topics were mostly mundane things, nothing of great purpose — not that either of them complained.

mother and son just simply basked in each others' presence, not having seen each other for so long. beata cut the comfortable silence they shared short with her words.

she laughed at the bewildered look on his face, a suddenly wistful smile curling her mouth as she turned to look out the window they sat next to. "you always seemed to have an older soul, even when you were young. your father and I thought that you just took play-fighting to

was always uncommonly serious since he was young; whenever he and his sisters pretend a thing is their "charge," he would be highly protective of it to the point things might no longer be playful and he might hurt someone's feelings from snapping at them to keep his "charge" safe.

he of course always apologizes in the end, but his serious nature comes from a deep-rooted fear of not finding or succeeding in protecting his charge.

startled when he was given to the alcove to be raised there, fearing that in moving his fears of not finding his charge would come true but didn't want to disappoint his parents and therefore obeyed with his mother's wishes to act as the in-between of the two clans.

was still a hatchling when he moved to join the alcove, but still tried to take on the duty of protecting tala as if he were fully grown. there wasn't much to protect at the time so he spent most of his time helping tala out with archiving the histories of other lost light clans - until otonyo came along. (the male coatl's arrival and the change he brought is another story on its' own)

he has mellowed out upon growing older and adjusting to his role as a grigori (guard), even occasionally cracking a dry joke or a half-smile at a particularly good joke, but remains solemn for the most part and dense to just about most social situations -- is better at reading body language rather than fanciful words.
