With a new companion in tow, the trio continued together with the cavalcade. However, Kaheru is a woman of many questions. "So, your father is from another world?" "Yes, and his mother as well," Kawa eagerly answered, "but I have never been there. I was born in Sornieth. He did teach me their language though, as well as our family song!" Kaheru's eyes lit up when a family song was mentioned. "Oh, wow! You've gotta sing it for us! Do you know any of the music for it? Or I could put my own twist on it!" The mute spiral used her cards to say 'I will dance too'. "Ah.....well, I must admit, I've.....somewhat forgotten it. He taught me when I was young, but with how Sornieth can be, I've sort of lost bits and pieces." The trio all seemed to drop their mood, but Kawa persisted. "M-Maybe if I start to sing it, I'll remember?" "Ah-no, thats not it...uh....♫ Yurari yurureri ♫ Utakata~♪ omori ♪-.....no....um!" Kawa struggled on with the lyrics. "♫You are an ocean of waves~♫ weaving a dream ♪- wait, no!! Ah....." After an hour of mis-stepped lyrics and picking at her fingers, Kawa finally gave up. ".....I'm so sorry, I just can't remember it entirely!! I'm sorry to have let you down....perhaps I can write father to ask him to write it for me...." Kawa's head drooped down, refusing to make eye contact with the two out of shame. But Kaheru adored her too much to let her wallow in guilt. "Aww, don't you worry yourself none! It's nothing you're at fault for, no need to be guilty over it!" But Kawa only looked up once to her, and back down to her hands. Kaheru could tell this meant a lot more than just a family song. "....I'll tell you what. We've been going on about our blood family here, but you know what? This here Cavalcade is a family, so we should make a song for us!" Kawa looked up again, only to see the other Coatl had already turned tail and was tearing apart her instument trunk. Kawa couldn't help but giggle as Kaheru fumbled through her things to find this.....tiny windflute. ".....why that?" Her curiosity was too much to hold back. "Well, it's no ordinary windpipe. This baby? She's been made by collaboration of Tidelord and Windsinger themselves! Plays as high in the air as can be, and as deep in the water as the ocean goes. Fits, considerin' we're always goin' between the two!" Kaheru grinned wide, and Kawa couldn't help but be uplifted.

Kaheru played a tune on her windflute. And Kawa hummed along. The Ulund began twirling her cards and dancing slowly along to the tune, until finally it came to an end. "....Wow, Kaheru; that was wonderful!" "I'll say, but I've gotta hurry n' write it down before I forget it! Quick, hand me that paper, there by your elbow!" Kawa obliged, handing the paper over and watching and the musician hurriedly wrote down the notes to the tune. Ulund joined in, and the pair giggled at how absorbed Kaheru had become in her work....until a question came to Kawa's mind. ".....Hey, if that windflute is such a precious instrument, how come you seem to have never used it until now?" "Well, why would I?! It's a collector's item!" |
