Davgold remembers it all.

Heʼs done his best to atone for what heʼd done and the part he played, and in those rare moments of clarity about their past Awela has assured him he has done more than enough.

He still isnʼt so sure.

“You didnʼt know any better,” she told him once. “You were barely more than a hatchling.”
Itʼs true, he would concede every time. Davgold had been barely more than a child when the angry, violent band of mirrors heʼd been hatched into had attacked and pillaged a peaceful village of dragons. The raids they put on had never quite sat well with him, and this one was the straw that broke the camels back. He turned on the only family heʼd ever known and saved as many of the villagers as he could. One of them, a badly wounded tundra who had lost all her family, would turn out to be Awela.

His relationship with Kaiju is strong: he tells Kaiju the things he is reticent to tell Awela about his past and Kaiju helps him work through it by lifting him up and helping him find joy in the moment.
Davgold silently assists as a second leader to the clan, lending strength to her choices. He spends the rest of his time with Kaiju teaching the hatchlings how to defend themselves.
