Corona was an abandoned egg that Mariana found while on the run. Though she couldn't stay in one place for long, and already had her own child to take care of, Glasswing, her conscience would not be able to bear leaving it behind. And so she scooped up the strange egg and marched onward to find a safe place to stay.

Having found a place to stay and a lover to help watch the children, Mariana watched with bated breath as the egg hatched, and out came....a strange little hatchling, to say the least. Their scales and wings were patterned with starstuff, all wrapping and wriggling across the tiny form that contained them. Their eyes, upon opening, were fragmented like a bug's, faceted eyes to look at many things at once. Inkblot and Mariana both nuzzled the hatchling, "hello little one," they said, "welcome to the world. We're so happy to have you."

They let the child choose their own name when they knew how to do so, and she chose the name Corona, like the stars in the sky. Her fascination with anything and everything knew no bounds.
She requested books and notebooks and charcoal to write with and telescopes to watch the sky with. Her parents of course obliged her as much as they could, but between making their new home and not having had much in the first place, keeping her curiosity sated was a bigger task then they could handle by themselves.

This is where the clan alchemist Votano came in. Being self-taught himself, whenever Corona was being a little too much to have around during the carving out of the cave, she was told to toddle her way over to the doctor's office in the inn and learn about medicine magic and herbology from the frail Coatl.
