The rocks of the cliff side under her claws grounded Vega as she watched the clouds form on the horizon. Big white-tipped waves rolled onto the beach several Imperial lengths below her and her wings were rustled by the strong gusts of wind sent by this year’s first winter storm, which was approaching fast from across the ocean. With one last look at the menacing storm clouds the nocturne turned around to reach the safety and comfort of her lair before the storm hit the shores. However, a peaceful return seemed to be out of question today, as she only made it halfway down the cliff before she was stopped by a tundra blocking her path. “Vega,” the tundra greeted with the slightest nod of his head . “Storm..,” the nocturne answered without being able to keep the shyness and uncertainty entirely out of her voice. There was a second of silence in which the tundra looked the way Vega came from, up the cliff facing the ocean. “Does the ocean listen to you?” Storm finally said and tilted his head, large eyes seemingly soulless hidden under his fur. “Has it answered to your questions?” Vega felt a sharp thorny vine of sadness tighten around her heart as she could almost sense the sorrow in the tundra’s eyes, except that tundra didn’t show it, of course. “What do you mean?” she asked quietly. Storm already turned back around towards the clan’s dens. “These dragons don’t, do they? They don’t seem to understand your existence… It’s a shame, really. A shame that neither your memories or knowledge can help you…” Storm flicked his ears and left without another word, just as fast as he had appeared. Vega realised that her entire body was tense and she tried to relax with questionable success. She stared into the direction the tundra had disappeared to. Her lair didn’t feel so inviting anymore, and she turned her head towards the sky. The first raindrops hit her face and she imagined the violent power of the storm at her whim. She imagined them to be a burst of power that stars emanated, and that brought her a sense of comfort. She climbed back up the cliff, eyes searching the seas of Starfall isles. Her wings trembled with a need to take flight, but she was to scared. She was scared of never coming back again, just like she had left the galaxy above. She could never go back, the sad reality that crushed her. She could never go back her home of stardust and moons. She is a dragon born of the cosmos. A creature that had stars in her eyes and constellations on her scales. And she could never return to where she belonged, a fallen star that longed to be in the sky again. But the memories of what it was like eases the pain, besides she has a new family. And they were just as wondrous. . |
