What hatchlings that emerge from the eggs their father steals from the nest and abandons in the Wasteland or begs for passing travellers to take in usually grow up ignorant of their potential; those that the mother takes in to teach tend to be in touch with their magic and sometimes frighteningly ambitious.

Khonsu learns firsthand and quickly just how merciless and unforgiving the Wasteland can be.

Of course, it did not help that he seemed to have inherited the same sight his father possessed, except all he could predict was the exact date of a dragon's death, accurate to the nearest hour, only from their mannerisms.

It's unnerving at times. He can tell from the way one trills their 'r's to the confident stride of another. Most of it comes from reading body language.

He learns to hide it eventually. Only one tell remains: if you see something flicker briefly in his eyes and find that he averts his gaze immediately when you meet him, well. You'd best get your affairs in order.
