quiet, creative, careful observer, caring, and cautious

Leon had always been alone, and had grown to believe solitude was his comfort. Hatched under the booming crack of thunder and into the stark, grasping hands of forked lightning beneath the Tempest Spire, he always half believed he was born of the union between booming cacophony and blinding light, in that split second of pure darkness and pure calm. For that is what he has always been, a calm second in a roiling world. He was content to sit and think and plan while others went out and did, for to him the planning was the real pleasure. There was always too much messiness and terrifying uncertainty in the real world. In his diagrams everything was neat and labeled and just what they said they were, something other dragons never lived up to. There was always some hidden agenda, some exhausting demands, and the eternal creeping fear that he would never give them what they needed, for he hardly understood what they wanted from him in the first place.
As he grew, Leon thought he was happy to be left to the clouds and the stars and the jagged forked lightning whose dance-like path he could just about predict if given the proper data. But though he devoted himself entirely to his work and his predictions, something felt hollow.

It wasn't until a fiery little Pearlcatcher quite literally stormed into his life, dropping from the sky singed and apparently so beaten she had forgotten her name entirely. Leon dubbed her Xanthippe, which merited a sly, toothy grin from her that set his heart uncharacteristically fluttering. And since then, she's proceeded to turn his world entirely to lovely, entrancing, terrifying chaos. He's still learning to embrace the unexpected, but her easy bell-like laugh and witty barbs are pulling him farther and farther from the comfort of the predictable and calculable. And Xanthe continues to conjure miracles; their first hatchling is on the way and Leon is a nervous mess. Little does he know, though, she is far from what she says she is, and her mysterious past may very well be coming back with a vengeance. But then again, his own past, which he never really cared to dwell on, may be catching up to him as well.
