Empire is a rather charismatic dragon. Having spent much of his youth travelling around, he has collected quite the network of acquaintances. After wandering for a decade or so, Empire eventually decided to settle down with a clan. It took some time to find the right one, however. He toyed with the thought of joining a Plague clan for a long time, seeing as that's where he came from. However, something in him nudged him away, convincing him that he would find a better place elsewhere, for whatever reason. One day, while he was flying near the Sea of A Thousand Currents, he saw the most beautiful Skydancer, her white wings stark against the dark of the night. He flew closer, landed nearby, tamping down the side of him that told him he was being creepy and stalkerish by being there, and observed the Skydancer. She had pink gems littered across her, sparkling slightly under the moonlight. Her dark eyes were sad, lachrymose. Empire felt his heart break for her, despite not knowing what was going on. He stayed until the Skydancer went back to her lair. The next day, Empire had joined the Ancient Moon Clan. Cecily was not a dragon who gave her attention to others easily, Empire found. She was much more concerned with her work. Empire found that he couldn't even speak to her, during the few times they actually had a chance to interact. Empire felt stupid; he was one of the smoothest talkers in all dragonkind, everyone he knew said so. And yet, he could barely say two words to Cecily. So instead, Empire threw himself into his job as PR man of the Clan, making alliances and arranging business transactions for his new family. This meant that he had many opportunities to speak with Cecily, even if only about work. It was only until this Rockbreaker's Ceremony that Empire dared speak up and court Cecily openly. He had had some of his friends collect some unique and antique scroll cases and used them to proposition Cecily. For whatever reason, she had agreed to being courted. Empire was ecstatic.
