Biography

||Galaxell||She/Her||Starseer||Empath||Lesbian||

They are observers on the wind, messengers to higher powers as they soar. Constus and Galaxell are a unique mixture in their capabilities. Though born in the Southern Icefield, their appearance and abilities were forever changed when an arcane wind blew in from the north, parting the clouds briefly and giving the two nocturnes a connection to the stars themselves. Their birth clan saw them as oddities, two dragons more interested in the sky and each other than with the tangible people in front of them. Indeed, these two have the ability to harness the power of celestial bodies, and barely have to move their wings as they fly, instead being able to move as they do with pure, arcane power.

When old enough to fly, the twins left their home, never looking back as they did so. They traveled the Southern Icefield, observing the outlines of creatures frozen in ice and prisons guarded by ancients. They were unable to explore as much as they liked, deterred by large shapes in the distance and freezing cold disabling their flight. They narrowly escaped, and have not drifted that close to the ground since – until recently, that is.

Perhaps the gods were displeased with power being used for mere observation. Whatever it was, the siblings were unprepared for a sudden storm to hit them. It was dark, making their wings heavy with the cold and heat all at once. Galaxell and Constus were separated for the first time in their lives, battered by a mixture of pure elemental fury and nothing at all. Before they individually blacked out, they saw dozens of dripping, tarlike figures leering at them from the clouds.

Galaxell inherited foresight from the stars. She cannot see the future – she is not an oracle as water dragons are – but she has an incredibly strong intuition about both dragons’ intentions and about where she and her brother ought to float toward next. She is a sarcastic, prickly sort, more than okay about being only with herself, her brother and the open skies. She remembers how her previous clan looked at them, and is almost embittered. She sees how the elements grapple with each other and feels contempt, ignoring what is below in favor of looking as a passive observer.

When she was separated from her brother, Galaxell was launched into the Lightweaver’s domain – into the Sunbeam Ruins. She awoke battered and bruised and worried. So brightly did the sun shine above, it felt as though the stars were screaming at her all at once. Jolting back into reality, she realized that she was laid on a nest of sorts – of cloth and cushion haphazardly put together. Above her was the roof of a tent, made up of cloth of all colors stitched together.

Across the room drowsed a beautiful blue coatl, many years older than Galaxell. She arched her neck up to meet the nocturne’s wandering gaze, magenta eyes brightening as she stood.

“Hello there! Thought you wouldn’t make it – you had quite the nasty fall.” she smiled, and Galaxell thought that she had never seen someone dressed so ridiculously in her life. “I admit that my healing skills aren’t entirely there, but I’m glad they were good enough.”

Galaxell glanced at her wings and back, which were bandaged. Through the coverings she could sense how severe the wounds were, which made her flinch a little. She stiffened, remembering her brother. “Did you see… anyone like me?” she asked, voice cracking. It occurred to Galaxell that she had not actually spoken in years.

The coatl cocked her head to the side, worry lacing her tired eyes. “No, I’m afraid not. Was there someone else with you?”

Galaxell didn’t answer as she pried herself from the comfort of the nest, dragging herself toward the entrance of the tent. She had to find her brother, had to find him -

She was blocked by a feathery wing. The coatl tsked at her. “You’re in no condition to move, much less fly.”

Though Galaxell heard the sincerity in the coatl like ringing bells, she still hissed in annoyance and pain. “Move.”

“I don’t think you could make me, injured as you are. Accept our hospitality, heal – we can find the one you are looking for later.” her voice was firm, and Galaxell quailed before it. She slunk back to the nest, and was met with an approving nod.

She was under the care of the Turquoise Troupe now, a ragtag band of performers that traveled all over Sornieth, much as she and Constus had until recently. However, the Troupe performed for others, bringing joy and reveling in it as they wandered about. Though initially off-put by what she thought to be a waste of magic, Galaxell found herself meshing decently well with the group. She particularly bonded with their leader, a cheery pearlcatcher named Spiritus who had a fair bit of magical talent herself. Galaxell decided that the best chance she had of finding her brother was by traveling on the ground, and she even found herself enjoying the time she had with the Troupe.

Constus would love this, she would often think, watching pyrotechnics and candy-making and hydromancy.
