xxx It is little surprise that hatchlings born to a wastelander and a pirate in the middle of the Scarred Wasteland tend to grow up fast. They are quickly exposed to a life of brutal survival, vicious death, and grand larceny; some may become disillusioned with the violence and seek other paths while others dive in headfirst, fully embracing this way of life.

Growing up in an environment as harsh as the Plaguebringer's domain is sure to leave scars, and a few choose to hide the marks behind smooth silk and soft cotton while others take them as badges of pride.

When it comes to independence, however, there is little doubt that all of them love the thrill of the fight, the rush of adrenaline in their veins, and the howl of the tempest in their ears.

 		There is nothing beautiful and nothing sacred about death for the sake of itself.

Ankh understands this well enough, but while a lifestyle of reckless slaughter and robbery has always been out of the question, she cannot help but long for something, some purpose to give her the rush she needs, to fill the searing days and cool nights.

At first, she throws herself into her training, sparring late into the night and long after the sessions are over. She doesn't stop, even when her claws start blister and bleed,, even when her lungs feel close to bursting and she can't summon the strength to inhale. Sometimes, her lovers trace the scars on her shoulders and back with soft lips and gentle claws; she doesn't breathe then, either.

It isn't long before she finds the answer: by day she trains alongside the warriors and paladins, by night she protects vulnerable travellers from highwaymen and bandits. Most know her only by her alias and fewer still have the honour of being privy to her real name.

And those who have the misfortune of waylaying travellers under her watch will know her unforgiving gaze and the cold steel of her blade.
