Often when Anansi has put Saphir in an ill mood with his antics, he'll 'woo' her back with all manner of gifts - strange familiars, ancient tomes, fine silks and shining jewelry. And, one such time, an infant Coatl from the allied Gravedigger clan, chosen for the striking beauty of the cosmic patterns in his fur. She was immediately taken with the child and has since taken him not simply as a servant or a pretty bauble, but as her own son. This, much to Anansi and Goth's dismay, since he is not of their lineage at all and yet she treats him like blood - perhaps out of kinship, for the quiet, studious nature of the young Coatl suits her own, and he suffers similar illness as she does. So, Starstruck as he was named studies alongside Tattletail and works hard with his adoptive mother in her Archives, specifically focusing on the paths of the moon and stars above, on astronomy and how it effects the powers of their often nocturnal clan. He is, for the most part, withdrawn and solitary. Indeed, he appears to be entirely mute, not even able to speak the unusual language of his kind. He shows very little desires beyond that to please Saphir, and she dotes on him in turn with silks and gems to enhance his natural beauty. |
