Little Vivienne was a talented zephyrmancer, skilled in pressurizing pockets of air and releasing the hold to make impressive pops and booms. These were harmless at first, powerful enough to blast everyone in a small radius with a puff of wind, but left to her own devices Vivienne began to up the pressure, making the booms larger and larger without consulting the adults who could have warned her of the danger. It was her favorite game when she was all alone, and she loved to compress the bubble as tightly as she could for as long as she could hold it until it burst free from her grasp and created a huge shockwave and noise. She thought nothing of it when she made her largest and most pressurized bubble yet, until the force unleashed when it broke free slammed into her body and threw her backward, flinging her into a world of pain before everything went dark. Her family found her unconscious in critical condition and managed to stabilize her, but when she revived the devastating consequence of her game became clear; she had completely destroyed the structures in her ears and was now deaf.

Although devastating at first, Vivienne learned to cope with her condition. She learned sign language and how to read mouths. She refused to speak after seeing other hatchlings who were unaware of her condition laughing at everything she said, realizing that she might sound wrong to them now. Despite the reassurances of her family, she did not want to risk speaking if her words weren't going to be taken seriously. As she grew older this became less of a concern, but she still spoke very little as opposed to using sign. When it came time for her and her siblings to leave the nest she was the first to leave, bold despite her quiet nature.

She got a job in a town on the coast of the Sunbeam Ruins, never noticing the whispers or the secret passages in this seemingly normal town. It wasn't until one of her friends took her into a room and threw a lever with a wink and a nod. When the two left the room, they were somewhere else; a huge and shining city. This was how she learned that the town she was living in was only the public face of a hidden city, and she was now part of it. Amarayne was a good fit for her, with many already familiar with sign language in the clan and many accommodations for her disability.

Quiet as she is, she is also fearless and confident. While she adds little to the conversation, she isn't shy and will nonverbally convey whatever she needs to get across unless she feels moved to speak. She's also long accepted her disability and will sometimes make light of it, though only her closest friends would dare tease her about it before she brought it up.

Wind magic is the one thing that still frightens her. She is trying to get over this fear and start practicing the craft again, but the confidence she lost due to that accident so long ago still haunts her to this day. She is taking things slow and practicing with a patient teacher but she is barely able to wrangle a draft without getting too worked up to keep her hold. Elomuria, the former leader of the clan is a powerful zephyrmancer and it is her example that keeps Vivienne going. Elomuria is fluent in sign and is able to explain things clearly enough, so Vivienne is hopeful that with her instruction she will one day be able to use her magic without fear.

She was very taken by the charming dragon who was introduced to her by the same friend who brought her to the clan. Vincent is blind to anything closer than 90 meters due to his unusual Gift, but somehow the two were able not only to become fast friends but devoted and loving mates. Communication was difficult to establish but once they had there was nothing they couldn't say to one another. He's one of the few she'll speak freely to and whenever she passes under the watchtower that he works in she'll often hold up small signs with messages to her beloved that he will be able to read from that height.
