Fritillary

There once was a butterfly who wanted to touch the clouds….




Fritillary was named after the beautiful butterfly he bore a resemblance to, and when he was older, acted like. He was bubbly and enjoyed flapping his wings, soaring around the trees. He loved coming up with goals, going higher and higher. The one day he looked up at the blue sky and with determination on his face decided what his next goal would be. He wanted to touch the clouds. His friends called him Icarus, his siblings called him stupid, yet he was determined. So one day he looked at clouds and started flying, he was going past trees until suddenly he broke through the canopies with an astounding view of The Behemoth. Eventually he passed The Behemoth, the only thing in sight were the clouds and the vast unending sky, he flapped hard willing himself to go higher, farther. Then, lightning struck. The second Icarus scraped through the sky, plummeting at a dangerous pace, he was a fallen angel. Then as death seemed near, a bright green flash pierced the sky while Fritillary was left floating in air, his fall abruptly stopped. A booming voice was heard, “You are a chosen one, your foolish act shall not repeated, you must find the Shining Glen.” When the voice was finished speaking he started falling again at a slower pace and landed on the warm soil. He had a new goal in mind.

“I must find the Shining Glen.”

And so Icarus lived another day.
