Biography

Knurraethe Tengu in the Hills
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Shining Feather Cluster A tengu hiding out in a not-so-terribly-convincing dragon shaped body, none are quite certain if Knurrae was cursed, failed an otherwise magnificent feat of shapeshifting, or if he’s a strange hybrid. Given that his fur is actually very fine feathers and that his nose is suspiciously beak-like, most dragons tend to assume the latter- at least until they catch him walking around on two legs, in which case they’re more often certain he’s a demon. Which may not be far off, who’s to say?
Not too many people know that Knurrae exists outside the beast clans living in the mountainous territory north of Aethereus. Knurrae lives in a small, maze-like den high in the snow caps, though he frequently lurks along the trade routes in order to spy on and occasionally aid wayward travelers; he only helps those who might actually die in fear of being blamed, or those with the shiniest bauble to be stolen, and even then he tends to stay out of sight, giving direction through such measures as marking the path with stones or pelting his target with snowballs until they’ve moved in the right direction.

A trickster and wanderer by nature, Knurrae is easily won over by shiny presents but not so easily kept. Once his loyalty is gained he’s a friend for life, coming and going as he pleases but always keeping out a watchful eye; anger him and your life is a miserable one filled with inescapable tar-and-feather antics. That being said, he’s kept to himself since making his den, mostly claiming his friends from a distance in those who’ve recognized his presence with little gifts of thanks, most of whom are beastfolk.
