Like clockwork Uriel entered his lab and started his day. Like many times before, he constructed the the metal body for the latest AI to inhabit, and awaited its awakening.
The robot shook and sat upright, just as expected, if not with just a little more umph than usual.
Uriel looked it over and nodded, checking things off on his clipboard.
It watched him closely as he moved around it.
"It all looks good so far." Uriel said aloud.
He gently picked up its paw and began to rotate it, checking its joint mobility, but just as he began to do so it leaned forward and snapped at him.
Uriel tumbled back, and glared indignantly at it for a moment before standing back up and brushing himself off.
"Well, no need to be rude. I'm only making sure you're good to go."
It chuckled. It's voice was tinny and scratchy.
"You're acting strangely calm. Chipper even, Uriel." it said.
Its words struck Uriel's composure like a sledgehammer.
"How... How did you know my name?"
"That's not all I know."
The metal creature smirked and pointed a claw towards Uriel's desk.
"Aren't you forgetting something?"
Uriel frowned and followed its direction, finding a journal open on his desk. As he read the page it was open to he became even more confused.
"No, this isn't right..." Uriel flipped through the pages, becoming more frantic with each passing page. "No, no. I was on the G series. How? I.... You're supposed to be a G series! What's going on here?"
It shook its head. "No, I'm an L series. L-/2. I suggest you start reading that journal of yours. You've forgotten a lot."
