Biography
"In this case of a violent storm and the discovery of two bedraggled pearlcatchers crashing into the side of the cliff as they tried to fly through the storm.
Plunging into the sea, the rough waters nearly drowned them as they struggled to swim for land. Any sort of land.
When the storm cleared, the pearlcatchers washed up on the shores of the Starfall Isles. The female was heavy with eggs, but the turmoiling water had stolen her pearl. Terrified for his mate's fate, the male dove into the water to find her lapis pearl. The acolytes of magic both feared and attracted themselves to the fate of the pearlcatchers. Even going so far as to watch the ocean for the male's return.
He did, in the jaws of a granite thresher, fighting to free himself, to get on land again. The acolytes burned the shark with magic, freeing the male. He had swallowed his mate's pearl, bringing it to her. His passionate possession of caring for his mate touched the acolytes watching.
They carried the two across the sea, to let their souls be carried away by the wind. But when the acolytes had moved the female, eggs were there. This is strange. This is wrong. Eggs are not borne on the move. Panicked by the discovery, the acolytes abandoned the eggs and the pair in Wind territory to flee back to their chalcedony mountains.
A good deed occasionally will reap reward. In this case, the eggs were saved, another generation of mages born into the world.
No one knows if the parents survived after being left in Wind territory.
For those who hatch with a white on white skin, the tone of their pearl decides their magic capability. The more lustrous the pearl's color, the stronger their magic.
Imperials can fall under this as well, with black on black skin with a pearl tertiary.
And you, young one, have some strong magics."
