Vespertilio

Vespertilio was the fourth child to be hatched by the Matriarch and her Second, and perhaps their least favorite. He was born with undeveloped wings and horrible problems with his teeth, and many thought the hatchling wouldn't survive to adulthood. Naming Vespertilio was put off until he proved he could survive past hatchlinghood and leave the nest.

After such a cold welcoming to the world, Vespertilio developed a loner's personality. He doesn't talk to other dragons, they don't talk to him. He doesn't eave his lair, no one visits his lair. He keeps to himself, and other respect that.

While he sits in his lair, watching the world move slowly around him, Vespertilio basks in the night. He watches the stars travel slowly over Sornieth, and watches special, living black clouds. Bats. He watched bats as he grew, and as his wings developed, and still dreams of joining them someday. Of preforming the same aerial acrobatics and possessing energetic beauty. Vespertilio only ventures out of his lair to follow the clouds of bats.

The inside of Vespertilio's great lair is messy with trinkets he's collected, though no one knows where they come from. One of Vespertilio's few pleasures in life in collecting odds and ends others would discard, perhaps finding a kinship with the little baubles and bits of trash.
