Alpha
"'In the beginning . . . ' that's how all the stories start. From the alpha to the omega, from the start to the finish - our fates are written and woven by a god of fate - and yet, we stand. We are here, and we are now." Empyrean #1 Magic Type: Evocation [Spells that manipulate energy or create something from nothing.] Quote:
Bond Story:
“Would you like a cupcake?” It was a simple enough question. Still, it caught Empyrea off guard. She hadn’t expected anyone else to have been up this late, let alone making baked goods at this time of night. The sun had set many hours ago, and the moon had since hung in the sky, illuminating the water lapping gently at the shoreline of the Starfall Isles. She had come out here to clear her mind - to seek peace and solace in the strange new world she had been thrown into. Empyrea was not like the other dragons. Her powers - given to her by a divine force beyond her comprehension upon her creation - promised her the ability to create life from energy. This power, the ability to bring hatchlings into a world where they can find a purpose and fulfil their destinies - it was all that she had ever lived for. But the powers she had been promised, that she knew, deep down that she possessed, had not come to fruition. She did not know how or why she was broken in this way - unable to serve her purpose - but it grounded and degraded her. To be a god with no powers. It was laughable. She had come to the Starfall Isles to search for answers to her problems. She secretly hoped the stars would spell out a solution, or, perhaps foolishly, she wished the Arcanist themself would assist her. Make her whole. But tonight, she was met in her sorrow by a small Coatl, wearing a fluffy brown coat. She did not mind his company - perhaps it’s what she needed. Her nights had been lonely for many weeks now. “A cupcake . . . yes. I will take one. Thank you,” she whispered, her voice a soft echo in the wind. The Coatl - she would learn that his name was Macaroon - lifted one as high as he could. . . . It was comically small compared to Empyrea. Still, she laughed and reached down to accept it. . . . Empyrea ended up spending all night with Macaroon, looking up at the stars and pondering their purpose. She listened to him ramble about baking - it was an interesting and foreign concept to her - and in turn, he listened to her woes. She weaved the sorry tale of a prophecy she had been given upon creation - the knowledge and divinity she carried with her that she had yet to find a use for. “I don’t know. Maybe I wasn’t meant to be anything,” she sighed, staring down at her reflection in the still ocean water. Macaroon instantly wrinkled his nose in disagreement. “That’s not true. Everyone has a purpose. It took time for me to find mine - and I am sure that you will find yours in time.” He gave Empyrea’s paw a gentle touch, joining her stare in the water. Suddenly, a soft illumination began to encompass them. They gasped in unison, Empyrea’s heart racing as she began to wonder, is this it, is this it? And surely enough, this was it. The bond the two had shared that night - pondering over their purposes in life, their dreams, their aspirations. This was the first true bond Empyrea had formed with another. All her life leading up to that point, she had lived as a solitary goddess - when what she really needed all along was to share the energy of another dragon. Two eggs materialized from the light and formed in front of Empyrea. The two dragons were dumbfounded. “. . . Well, there you have it. If that’s not your purpose . . . I don’t know what is.” He chuckled. “. . . Should I visit them on the weekends, or...?” |
