Pepper watched the entertainment on the stage at the festival, fascinated as the dragon danced, swirled flames around them on chains, and leaped and spun so fast it was like the flame encircled them. Then the dragon put down the chains, and took up small balls, one at a time, adding them to an intricate juggling pattern, all the colors of the flights of Sorneith. The jokes were hysterical, the choreography mesmerizing. By the final bow, young Pepper had tears of laughter, joy, and excitement all rolled into one! This was what she wanted to do! Without a word to her parents, the small tundra hatchling scampered backstage. By the time her parents caught up with her, she'd completed a deal for an apprenticeship. Her parents, though exasperated at the outgoing hatchling, were happy with her daring choice and supported her new-found purpose in life. Off their hatchling went, to learn juggling, fire dancing, and all the jester skills from this master:
The Great Giacomo, King of Jesters and Jester of Kings!
After years of training, Giacomo retired and left his props and good wishes with his apprentice. Pepper started up her own act, though she likes to put on a small show every day in the marketplace to entertain the kind people of the area. She thought it good practice, and she never knew when a client might be watching and wish to hire her to juggle,dance, and jester for them at their next event! |
