The crack of thunder was a constant, where she sat. Be it from the sky above, the mines below, or the sound of her own voice. For some this would mean there was never a moment of peace. Instead, she had chosen to make peace with it as fact herself.

She wasn't about to abdicate her position over a little noise.

The cacophony had been a part of her life for so long, she ignored it. No, perhaps she harnessed it- wielded its power for herself. When she sat at the front of the courtroom, the sparks of white hot flame of her thunderous roar were what brought the eyes of the jury to attention. While the other magistrates of Hulmoor often took to more nuanced measures, such as taxation and city improvement, she was tasked with mostly cut and dry matters. Was a crime committed, was it not?

Supposedly it suited her demeanor.

For years she hadn't been sure if that was meant as a compliment or an insult, but she had taken it in stride.

Still, from her chair, she held an absolute authority. Not that of a king or lord, but as the one responsible for guiding the pursuit of the absolute truth. She was to be the calm and the storm all at once- unyielding, but so too unbiased. When lightning struck in her courtroom- literally or figuratively- she was expected to move on from it, just as quickly as the thunder behind it.

...Not that life was always so glamorous. Though her greatest moments may have been in front of the court, dreary paperwork was the calm between the storms.

Well, just like lightning, glory was often gone in a flash.
