Say Goodbye to Who I Was
Frog is certainly. . . off. She does not live in the canyon as the others do, but she around longer than most. Frog prefers to live at a nearby lake where the shrubbery is dense. They have a house there, more of a shack. Visitors from the canyon and passerby will often stop for a desperate drink of water. Frog will say nothing, but watch them warily from the palms. The skydancer did not always dawn the mask she does. Frog was born a sickly child of The Tangled Wood. Her parents were part of the Dusk Vines, an offshoot of The Shade, the last of Shadowkind that hide in the tangled caves and grottos of their homeland. The Dusk Vines largely represent a gang of thugs, more focused on pride and money than valor. Frog's parents worked for a dragon known as Vitreous, a wealthy self-proclaimed king of the underground. Vitreous worked with all sorts of unsavory business practices, Grove and Kaia worked to keep his casinos in order. After Frog was born, time with her parents was sacrificed to keep the boss happy. Her lack of protest was rewarded with anything she could desire, and so to keep herself company, she turned to exotic and often dangerous pets. Frog grew up in to a teenager that knew little about her parents, and a bored teenager at that. Taking care of her menagerie became rather mundane, she had the rarest animals that money could buy. That's when some rather dangerous information slipped. A rumor passed that Vitreous kept a great beast in his personal quarters, one only he could command. Frog took that as a challenge. And so one day she snuck in to his quarters, being raised in a community that valued security gave her an immense boon against the locks and guards. No one could have prepared for an inside job of Frog's talents. She gracefully made her way through the lavish corridors and decorated vaults, eventually finding her prize. A room locked like no other. Bolted to the teeth was the massive metal door. And so she made her way inside. Nothing could have prepared the young skydancer for what lay in wait for her. It is said the great monster spoke. The beast spoke in tongues that could corrupt the mind. She had barely made it out alive. In a sense, the true Frog was never able to leave that chamber. Her mind had changed beyond recognition. She had no desire to return to her family or her pets. She left and never said goodbye, destined only to get as far from the Beast as her legs could carry. She changed her name and fashioned herself a mask. No one would ever see her again.
