Apostle to the Night

Avari's story is very different from her mate's. She was raised as an apostle to the shadow gods, keeping the temple in order and performing rituals for her gods along with her fellow apostles. She became second in command to the high priestess, devoted in her faith to the gods. In the night as she stood guarding her temple she heard a rustling in the brush. She grew fearful, her faith being put to the test as she hoped the gods would protect her. Stumbling from the bushes was Anzu, panting and tired from running for miles. He was so alluring and mysterious. At first Avari had a guard put up, she questioned him about his travels. Anzu was weary, he needed to rest. Avari knew that tresspassers weren't tolerated. Avari led him to her chamber, nursing him back to health over the course of a month. In that time Avari's faith grew weak but her love grew strong. In one evening as she carried food back to her chamber Avari saw her door was open to her chamber. Dread filled her as she ran to Anzu. In the room the High priestess had Anzu pinned to the ground. At that moment Avari was forced to choose, her Faith or her mate. Avari attacked the priestess, wounding her and giving time for her to escape with Anzu. She fled with Anzu to Shen's clan, still devoted to her faith and her mate as one of the strong female protectors.
