Duskrunner

Being the younger brother, Duskrunner is very jealous of his brother, Tennor. Some dragons in the clan say he might have... nefarious intentions.

Duskrunner was playing outside.
“Come and get me, sucker!” His brother, Tennor, taunted him from afar.
“Yeah? That'll be easy!”
They both raced across the clan.
Everything was great.
...Until Duskrunner hit a large crystal.
Then there was laughing. It was his brother.
Laughing at him.

“Hey, kids! It’s time to go inside!”
Tennor flew off, but Duskrunner didn’t move.

His brother laughed at him.
And it wasn’t funny at all.

Duskrunner and Tennor both sat on the Crystalspine Reaches, looking at the sunset.
”You know, this place does get beautiful around this time of year. I’m gonna miss it when I’m gone.”
Gone? What do you mean?
”Well, Duskrunner, I don’t want to stay in the Starfall Isles forever. Or Sornieth, for that matter. I wanna go somewhere! See if there’s something else out there! And when I’m able to leave this place, I’m never gonna look back.”

Duskrunner, Tennor, and their parents were in their den, eating food.
“Well, Tennor, I’m certainly proud that you’re gonna go explore places no one else has seen, right, Nemoni?”
Their dad, a Dreamcatcher named Driscoll, gestured to a masked, purple Skydancer, who nodded curtly.
“Heh. Yeah, Dad. I sure hope you are!”
They continued to eat in silence, until Tennor spoke up again.
“Well, I suppose I should be heading out before it gets dark. Why don’t you come see me off?”
The strange feeling was coming over Duskrunner again. His brother was so selfish, going out on his own, not even caring who he left behind. But why? Why wasn’t he happy to see his brother go?
“Duskrunner? What’s wrong?”
His family was... staring at him? And that’s when he realized that he was crying.
And so he ran.
He ran outside, past the Crystalspine Reaches. The sun was setting outside. How fitting for a dragon named Duskrunner.
Running turned into flying, and he flew until he didn’t know where he was, at which point he landed in the middle of a forest.
What was he going to do now? He had no idea where to go, and it wasn’t like anyone was nearby.
He sat next to a tree, and he finally figured out what that strange feeling was.
He really did care about Tennor. He may have acted like he hated him, but in reality, he didn’t want his brother to leave him.
