Biography

necromancer. don't tell kravitz.
objectively the best kisser in the clan. others may squabble for the title of "most beautiful," but no one can deny that charaya wins "most attractive" by a landslide. seductive and charismatic, she can convince anyone of anything.

"Do you know what happens to dragons who are exalted?"
"They go to serve the gods."
"Oh, but you don't really believe that, do you? No, you and I both know the truth. They're dead. They never come back."
"..."
"You've lost someone close to you, yes? What if I told you I could bring them back to you? The price will be high, but you'd pay it in a heartbeat, wouldn't you, for the chance to see them again..."
"It's impossible. You said it yourself, they never come back."
"Oh, it is possible. I've seen it with my own eyes. Dragons, returned from beyond the grave, like they'd never been exalted in the first place... Mmm, I can see the interest in your eyes. I can feel the grief, the desperation, the longing in your soul... Don't deny it, love. You and I both know you'd do anything to save your loved one from their fate. Come, then. Let's discuss the price..."

--

"Your role is an easy one. First, you must provide a vessel for the soul to reside in. I can't bring back their body, after all. That's gone. They'll need a new one. Same colors and all, if you don't mind; it's easier that way." She leans in conspiratorially. "I've found that straying too far from the soul's original form leads to... difficulties adjusting to their new body. Like a coat that doesn't fit right, yes? When a body imperfectly fits its host, the empty spaces are difficult to fill. Some try filling the void with love or hope"--the words drip disdainfully from her tongue--"while others try more reasonable things, like sawdust, or alcohol. The easiest method of all, of course, is to simply avoid requiring such things in the first place. So, colors and clan of origin must match. If no suitable vessel exists, it's a simple task to breed one. I'm sure you'll be able to make the proper arrangements.
"You might be wondering what happens to the body's original host, hm? After all, all dragons are born with a soul." Her snake-like tongue flicks out and her eyes narrow as a sinister smile forms on her face. "You needn't worry about that. I'll handle the extraction. The other soul will simply replace your loved one beyond the veil. Gods are tricky, you see; they can tell when an exalted disciple is hollow. This way, there's no evidence. No one gets caught. You needn't worry yourself. Simply provide the host... and a reasonable finder's fee, of course. Breaching the veil is no easy task, and let's not pretend you know how to do it yourself. You wouldn't be here otherwise. No, I assure you, this is the only way. What's a little coin, anyway, if it means seeing your loved one again? Yes, yes... that's the spirit.
"Now, some rules of conduct. Once your departed friend is back, they may have questions." Her tail flicks in irritation. "They have an annoying habit of knowing there's something wrong with them... that they are not... mm... normal, shall we say. You must never, and I mean never tell them what has happened to them. They will not remember being exalted, and it must remain that way. Do you hear me?" She straightens to her full height, eyes furious slits. "Do not tell them. It only ever leads to disaster. You understand? Hm?" Satisfied, she continues, "As for their other memories, they will return... in time. If you're raising them from an egg, it's best to adhere to how they were first raised, otherwise the disparities may tip them off. If this is not possible, however, simply dismiss one set of memories as merely dreams. Young dragons are more likely to believe this. Older dragons may require some convincing. Drug them if you must. Oh, don't look at me like that! You knew from the moment you agreed to this that there would be some... underhanded behavior required of you. If you're not prepared to do whatever it takes, then get out of my den. No? You'll do it? Perfect." She nods, closing her eyes. "If they've had children, that raises a whole new set of problems. Simply swear them to secrecy about their true origins. Say it's just a lapse in memory. As I said, be persistent until they buy it. If they still don't... well. Then you might be best suited visiting a hypnotist. No, I am not one. No, I will not involve myself in such things for your convenience. Find one yourself. Once I've done the transfer, I want nothing to do with your clan's internal affairs. How presumptuous of you! What I'm doing here already breaks mortal and divine laws alike. You should be glad to be rid of me.
"Well then, that's about all I can think of. If you're willing to broker a deal, simply meet me here on the night of the new moon with your vessel and your treasure. If you've any other questions, send them with a messenger pigeon. My familiar will appreciate the snack. Now, leave here before you're spotted. The last thing I need is to be charged with treason on top of my other crimes."
