As a bird keeper (who specializes in non-threatening, peaceful leucistic crows) and former healer, Damien survives alone in a house by the water, considering himself a hermit among other names. His days are pleasant, other than the reoccurring nightmares of crows black as night. He relishes the sound of gentle waves lapping the sand, hence why he lives in a still-standing temple near the coast. Not only is the sound easy on the ears, but it also helps him stay calm and zone out from the outside world and his mind. He always hears whispers of the ocean no matter where he is, or the sound of crows calling out in otherwise silence. He tends to be obsessive in his ways, finding things to devote his time to, including conquering his nightmares.

Damien loves the taste of honey and often notices hints of lingering salt in his mouth. He gingerly touches things and enjoys soft, compassionate touches. Even though he lives alone, he can sometimes feel the memory of his mother tracing, "I love you" onto his back. Damien believes in soulmates and hopes to find his one day. The thought of being intoxicatingly in love without thought of a bloodline makes him giddy and dreamy. Being pansexual doesn’t make it easier than it does difficult. Damien wishes he were as graceful and feathered as Skydancers and Coatls and admires their plumage. He even made his own out of fallen crow feathers. He wishes to be one but is scared of losing his connection to his pearl. Among other breeds, he fancies Imperials for their graceful form, despite the laceration between their breeds. Damien loves small talk with other dragons and learning about others’ lives and pasts. He loves collecting sunflowers, as well.

When he met Ilanga, he knew something was different about her. Being in her pleasant aura calmed him and kept his nightmares at bay. Sometimes, whenever he casts a mischievous glance at her, he swears he sees an angel. Sometimes, even Lightweaver herself. There is nothing dull or forgettable about Ilanga to him, down to her nervous ticks and her delightfully pristine dove, Ilios. Sometimes he catches her sneaking glances at him and he looks right back, only for her to look away, blushing. Why won’t she let him see her eyes? He knows her love for him, she’s acting much like an open book, but he doesn’t tell her. He doesn’t want to squish her courage. Maybe one day she’ll say the words and all will be good.
