There is power in the in-between places. In doorways and hallways, when landing or taking flight. In-between times are even more powerful. Between youth and adulthood, between infatuation and love, between life and death. Between dawn and dusk.
Things can get lost in the in-betweens. We change as we grow and leave parts of ourselves behind. Childhoods. Hearts. Plans. Dreams. Treasures that fall through the cracks, never to be seen again.
Or are they? They must go somewhere. Nothing is never truly destroyed or truly lost. It is simply between one place and another. Between lost and found. Between have and have not. Between knowledge and ignorance.
Worry not - there are those who live in the in-betweens, transitory and ephemeral creatures. Those lost things find a home with them. Guardians, keepers, watchers.
The next time dawn is about to break or dusk draws near, look for them: that is their time. Be careful, however, that you do not lose your way, or you might become a creature of the in-betweens, too.
